We did it! We made our decision to leave it all behind to travel the world together for six months.
It all started about two years ago with big dreams and a big question. What if we would just quit our jobs to travel? Me and my boyfriend Alex discovered that we both wanted to travel the world before turning 30. Excting! But then everyday life and work kicked in again.. Most people are amazed that we 'just do it', but rest assured, it was not an overnight decision.

Living the dream
After those first conversation we simply lost track of our dreams to travel and continued our busy lives in Brussels. Alex working as a business controller and me as senior project manager. We had a nice place, great friends and a super cute cat! Certainly life was going well for us and we started doubting, do we really want to leave this all behind? But still we have that dream, that desire to travel and see the world.
Making it happen
At the end of 2018 we decided that we really wanted to make it happen so we started saving money and put ourselves a deadline to leave end of 2019 (and before we turn 30). Setting a realistic deadline and creating the conditions to reach our goals was an essential part of the process to make our dream come true.
After months of thinking, reading and discussing we picked our destinations, and then changed them again, about a hundred times. It's always a matter of choices and unfortunately you just can't see everything in one trip, even if that trip is six months! Finally we made our choice, keeping the weather, our budget and time in mind. We booked our tickets with Kilroy! They were really helpful in finding the best flights for us. Recently we also quit our jobs and told all our friends and family.
So the secret is out! We are going to travel to Asia, New Zealand and South America, starting in November 2019. Alex and I are super happy and we look forward to sharing our stories and experiences with you through this blog!
